The Skills Factory has launched a new Performance Management module as part of their online school self-evaluation service, schoolcentre.net. The module will make it easier for schools to manage applications from teachers wishing to be considered for the upper pay scale when planned changes to the current process come into force.

From September 2009, teachers’ eligibility to move on to the higher pay threshold is to be judged solely on the outcome of their last two performance reviews and they will be required to demonstrate that their experience meets the Training and Development Agency’s revised professional standards for teachers.

The enhanced version of schoolcentre.net allows teachers to save any files and documents relevant to their professional development online over the course of the academic year. This will enable them to store everything they need to support their application in one place and ensure it is instantly accessible when the time comes to submit their application to move up to the higher pay threshold.

Continuing professional development is vital to ensuring schools provide learning that meets the changing needs of their pupils and raises achievement. With the enhanced version of schoolcentre.net, the whole process of performance management and staff reviews can be managed online, easing the burden of administration on school leaders and departmental heads. Using schoolcentre.net, schools can ensure teachers get the opportunities they need for continuing professional development and the system makes it easier for school leaders to evaluate the impact of any training on teaching and learning.

All key documentation and evidence relating to the evaluation of performance can be stored securely online and will be accessible only to those members of staff authorised to view them. The system saves time for schools and reduces the need to store paper copies that could be lost or damaged.

With schoolcentre.net, performance reviewers will be able to access files and documents on their teaching and non-teaching staff quickly and easily and clearly see where each individual is in the review process. Teachers can logon to a secure area of the system to save and store documents relating to their performance and career development and select those they wish to make available to their reviewer.

Mike Boyce, Sales Manager at The Skills Factory, which is part of the Granada Learning Group, says: “We are committed to ensuring schoolcentre.net provides schools with an online school self-evaluation service that meets their needs. The new Performance Management module has been designed following extensive consultations with teachers and local authorities. It is simple to use and has the security and flexibility schools want giving them the freedom to tailor it to their individual requirements.”

The Performance Management module is available as a free online upgrade to all schoolcentre.net customers. For more information call 0208 9963321 or visit www.skillsfactory.co.uk/schoolcentre.
