SDL CEO advocates multivendor approach to Global Information Management (GIM), invites LSPs Worldwide to join in GIM vision

Maidenhead, 10th July 2008

SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, announced today the launch of a worldwide Language Service Provider (LSP) Partner Programme. Modelled after the successful Idiom LSP Advantage Programme, the SDL LSP Partner Programme is designed to work closely with LSP Partners who, leverage SDL GIM technology, to increase the value they provide their customers seeking cost-effective delivery of timely, relevant global content into local markets.

Commenting on the launch of the SDL LSP Partner Programme, Mark Lancaster, CEO of SDL, said, "Typically over 90% of an international company's source content has a global audience, yet due to the massive complexity of managing dynamic global content, only 10% is actually translated. One of our main corporate goals at SDL is to provide joined up technology solutions across the translation supply chain. This means not only focusing on Translation Management Systems -that currently mostly benefit corporations - but also to enhance the value of our Translation Management Systems, terminology management and desktop translation editors to provide more value to LSPs and translators. We aim to provide integrated solutions that offer seamless connectivity throughout the extended translation supply chain.”

Lancaster continued, "SDL has always supported a multi-vendor approach to Global Information Management. With over 150,000 desktop technology users and 480 enterprise GIM installations in place at the corporate level, our proven vision of building solutions to maximise the range of content that can be efficiently created, managed and published to global audiences provides more opportunity to everyone connected in the translation supply chain. We have a real desire to partner with LSPs worldwide to get that global content translated with the highest level of quality, to decrease time-to-market and protect global brand identity. Unlike captive technology that forces you to work with one vendor, SDL's GIM technology is fully multi-vendor enabled."

The SDL LSP Partner Programme will be managed by the independent SDL TRADOS Business Unit, which provides translation technology tools and related services to corporate language departments, Language Service Providers and freelance translators worldwide. The goal of the SDL LSP Partner Programme is to promote multi-vendor cooperation at the enterprise level, while increasing LSP technical knowledge and internal efficiency by standardising on SDL technology.
