The Bordeaux wine bureau is hosting a ‘Medoc Marathon’ press trip this year over the weekend of 6th September and we have ONE last-minute space available for a journalist fit and able to run 26 miles...

With eight of us going out to run the marathon (all at different levels) and cover the story, we invite consumer journalists to get in touch for a full itinerary and further information. Please contact Natasha Claxton at R&R Teamwork on 020 7384 1333 or email natasha@randr.co.uk.

The Marathon du Medoc takes place on Saturday 6th September 2008... It has been running since 1984 and is 26 miles of running through the vineyards of some of the most prestigious Châteaux in Bordeaux with wine tasting areas (and water) every mile along the course. 90% of participants run in fancy dress and it has a real carnival atmosphere: see http://www.marathondumedoc.com/pages/en/esprit.php for more information, or for a more fun review from past runners: eatdrinkrunwoman.com/?p=58; www.marathontours.com/medoc/index.shtml

Whilst we propose flights from Luton, many other UK airports fly direct to Bordeaux.

We will endeavour to fit in some Châteaux visiting, more wine tasting and good regional food to give a more all round trip covering the Bordeaux region where there is so much to see and do. If you can fly out on the Friday then we will be taking it easy and having a good meal in a comfortable Château. After the big running event, if we can manage it, there will be dinner and fireworks on the go. And the following day a bit of a wind down through the vineyards. Monday morning will comprise of some proper Château visiting, tasting and hopefully seeing a bit of Bordeaux city itself before returning home.
