Youth charity The Prince’s Trust is backing its famous Ambassadors in a new fundraising initiative that gives ordinary members of the public the chance to own a piece of their favourite celebrity’s lifestyle, or even something more personal from inside their wardrobe.

The brain behind this great idea, the SELLEBRITY™ online auction site, is retired professional footballer and Norwich City hero Darren Eadie, himself a Prince’s Trust Ambassador. Darren was joined by Premier League star and broadcaster Robbie Savage and sports presenter Gabby Logan to launch this exciting charity venture at The Prince’s Trust offices in London.

Darren Eadie explained what inspired him to set up SELLEBRITY™ AUCTION; “Many footballers and famous people with a high disposable income accumulate clothing, furniture and other possessions that are maybe used once or twice and then discarded. Rather than languishing in the back of a cupboard or gathering dust in a loft or garage, SELLEBRITY™ encourages these stars to regularly spring clean for charity. By donating their possessions for auction on the SELLEBRITY™ website they are giving their fans the opportunity to bid to own something personal to the star, whilst at the same time raising crucial funds for many different charities across the UK.”

Darren is a proud Ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, which is the first charity to be named as a beneficiary of the SELLEBRITY™ AUCTION. Head of Ambassadors for The Trust, Annie Lycett, explained the significance to them of the SELLEBRITY™ partnership; “Money raised through the SELLEBRITY™ AUCTION site will help The Prince’s Trust to change more young lives here in the UK. With youth unemployment high and the jobs market uncertain, there has never been a better time to help us get disadvantaged young people into work, education or training. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Darren and to all of our wonderful Ambassadors who donated their personal belongings for this worthy cause.”

Famous Ambassadors such as Sharon Osbourne, Sir Richard Branson, Jools Holland, Carol Vorderman, Gary Lineker, Rob Brydon, Sir Ben Kingsley, Brenda Blethyn and a host of others have joined Gabby, Robbie and Darren to support the SELLEBRITY™ partnership.

Gabby Logan was photographed with her donation, a cream Mulberry handbag and said; “Looking at my Mulberry bag now I’m wondering why I’m giving it away! ..... seriously, I am actually delighted to donate my bag and Kenny (Logan) has donated a jacket to SELLEBRITY™ for auction. As an Ambassador for The Prince’s Trust any initiative that raises funds for such a worthwhile charity is worthy of support.”

Football’s bad boy, Robbie Savage, revealed his kind heart, posing in his £3,500 Dolce & Gabbana leather jacket, one of a selection of designer clothing items that he has generously donated to SELLEBRITY™ for auction. He poignantly spoke of his desire to support charitable causes. “I have first-hand experience of how important charities like The Prince’s Trust are, so I hope people will register and bid for some of my favourite pieces of designer gear to raise as much money as possible for The Trust and other charities across the UK.”
