BARNSHAWS ROLL ALUMINIUM CYLINDERS FOR SEATRICITY'S NEW RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT Wednesday 28 March 2012 PDF Print Barnshaws were asked to carry out the fabrication of aluminium plates for Seatricity's buoy design Seatricity have designed a new wave device for harvesting ocean energy, using simple, low cost technology. The design features an aluminium buoy, which has been fabricated by Barnshaws Section Benders. The device is capable of generating renewable energy using globally patented technology, which also has the ability to provide drinking water to countries who are in the most need of it. The buoys will be located 1-2km offshore, imposing minimum disruption to marine life due to their uncomplicated design and longer service life. Barnshaws were asked to carry out the fabrication of aluminium plates for Seatricity's buoy design due to their previous experience working within the renewable energy sector, and the ability to deliver a fast turnaround. Work undertaken by Barnshaws included the prepping and rolling of free issue 388 aluminium plates at 121 tons. Cylinders were rolled to an 800 O/D, at 2m wide x 8mm thick.
