Award of Rural Gain Grants Will Improve Business Security in Lincolnshire, says AlertSystems Wednesday 29 October 2014 PDF Print The availability of Rural Gain Grants for small businesses in rural Lincolnshire is great news for them and the communities they serve Leading provider of business security systems, AlertSystems, has backed the introduction of Rural Gain Grants by Lincolnshire County Council to improve security at rural businesses across the county. Their response comes after a local business spoke of how the £400 grant it received towards the funding of a CCTV camera has resulted in a number of benefits. Staff at East Barkwith Post Office revealed that as well as a reduction in their insurance premiums, they are able to make a meaningful contribution to crime prevention by having footage available for police to review. The money received by East Barkwith Post Office for the installation of the camera is one of many Rural Gain Grants awarded by Lincolnshire County Council every year. Specifically aimed at rural businesses in areas with fewer than 5,000 residents, Rural Gain Grants of up to £10,000 are available, paying up to half the costs of a project. To date, some 26 county businesses have shared more than £125,000 of funding, with priority being given to projects in the most isolated communities. The county council has recently issued an appeal for more applicants to the scheme, and has set a deadline of November 28th for their entries to be submitted. As a leading independent provider of CCTV security systems to businesses, AlertSystems has welcomed the financial support being offered to small, rural businesses who might otherwise struggle to fund the implementation of improved security measures. A spokesperson for the company said: “The availability of Rural Gain Grants for small businesses in rural Lincolnshire is great news for them and the communities they serve. “Through receiving the financial support on offer from the county council, business owners can take positive steps towards improving the security measures at their premises. Implementing things like CCTV security systems, as East Barkwith Post Office have done, provides a valuable crime deterrent and will make employees and members of the public feel safer. It will also help to bring insurance premiums down, as businesses that are seen to be doing something to enhance their security are at less risk of falling victim to crime,” he added.
