AHI staff present a cheque to Macmillan

We feel very proud of our workforce and the fact that they were so enthusiastic about supporting Macmillan

Employees of Anglian Home Improvements have presented a cheque for £12,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support. A total of £6,000 was raised through employees’ support for the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraising event at the end of September, with another £6,000 of matched funding being donated by the business.

The cheque was presented to Shaun Campbell, Fundraising Manager Norwich & Norfolk. A total of 3,000 Anglian staff nationwide were involved in the companywide fundraising activities.

Anglian Home Improvements sent a specially prepared coffee morning kit to all of its installation teams and departments, so that even staff visiting customer premises could do their bit to help. The coffee morning kit provided everything needed to support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event including coffee, cream, biscuits, posters, balloons, cake flags and tablecloths. Staff were encouraged to get baking so their cakes could be sold at their local coffee morning to help raise funds for the cancer charity.

Lynda Thomas, Interim Chief Executive at Macmillan Cancer Support said, “From everyone at Macmillan, a huge thank you to all the staff at Anglian Home Improvements for getting involved with our World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and supporting us. The amount you have raised is absolutely fantastic and will go a long way in supporting people affected by cancer. For example, your generous fundraising could help fund 450 Macmillan nursing hours across the UK or help us answer nearly 400 calls on our Macmillan Support Line helping people who need practical, emotional, medical or financial support. We appreciate and value your support so much, so thank you once again.”

Melanie McDonald, Head of Communications at Anglian Home Improvements, said, “Wherever possible we like to work with our employees in helping to support causes important to them. A number of staff approached head office asking us to host a coffee morning to help raise money for Macmillan. As it’s such a great cause, we decided to make it a national initiative for Anglian Home Improvements, allowing all staff an opportunity to get involved. We were delighted that 3,000 employees took part across 100 locations nationally. Most of us have a family member, work colleague or friend who has suffered from this cruel disease, and the Macmillan nurses do a wonderful job of helping those affected to get though a very difficult time. We feel very proud of our workforce and the fact that they were so enthusiastic about supporting Macmillan.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan's biggest fundraising event, where people across the UK hold a coffee morning to raise money for people living with cancer. In 2013, 154,000 people signed up, raising a record £20million.
