CCTV is vital in staying protected from robbers who are just looking to make some easy money

CCTV images and footage of a number of thieves in Derbyshire are being released by police. AlertSystems responds to the news.

Police chiefs are releasing images and footage of several people wanted in connection with crimes in Derbyshire. The CCTV images are being released as part of a ‘Caught on Camera’ scheme that aims to use the public’s help to identify criminals.

The force is hopeful that the images will jog people’s memories, prompting them to come forward with any information regarding the whereabouts of these criminals. Some of the images show suspected shoplifters, with CCTV footage capturing the individuals as they entered different shops.

In one of the incidents, two females entered a store and requested that the shop assistant change up some money for them. Later on after the two women had left the store, the shop assistant realised that money was missing from the till.

In a separate event, a man was captured entering different pet shops around the area. He makes his way to the dog food section before taking the goods and leaving the store without paying. Police are asking anyone who recognises the thieves to call them immediately.

A spokesperson for AlertSystems, specialists in business security installations, responded to the story with this statement: “At this time of year it’s terrible to hear of incidents where people are making off with goods that they haven’t paid for. The level of shoplifting rises massively at this time of year and it’s having a negative effect on our economy.

“Luckily CCTV surveillance was there to record the incidents on film, and because of that footage there’s a good chance that these criminals will be identified and found. If anybody has any information regarding these thieves, please contact the authorities today. CCTV is vital in staying protected from robbers who are just looking to make some easy money, and surveillance is extremely effective at bringing criminals to justice.”
