Family of four can save over £300 on ski passes in Germany vs France
But Bulgaria’s best for budget skiers with ski pass savings of over £400

Families planning a ski trip in Europe this Christmas are being urged to research the cost of ski passes before they book as new research by leading travel money provider, ICE – International Currency Exchange, has found that prices can vary by 241%! €58.50 will buy a 6 day pass for a child in Italy but you’ll need to stump up €200 in France.

ICE has also found that a family of four (2 adults, two children) could pay €486 for 6 day ski passes in Germany compared to €900 in France, saving €414 – around £333* – a difference of 85%.

Overall Germany comes out tops for value within the Eurozone while Pamporovo in Bulgaria (outside the Eurozone) is the cheapest of all the resort costs studied, with a 6 day ski pass at just €114, less than half the cost of a pass in France and Switzerland. A family of four would pay €384, saving over £400 on the cost of passes in the Eurozone.

Along with factoring in the cost of ski passes when planning travel money for a skiing holiday, ICE is urging families to make the most of the security, convenience and exchange rate certainty offered by a prepaid currency card such as the ICE Travellers Cashcard.

“Koko Sarkari, COO of ICE said: “Ski pass costs are simply part and parcel of any skiing holiday but can make a big dent in the holiday budget. Loading a prepaid currency card such as the ICE Euro Travellers Cashcard, when rates look favourable to pay for skiing holiday costs can help make the budget go further and offers more security than carrying cash on the slopes. With the Pound now offering 1.2418 against the Euro compared to 1.1735 Euros this time last year**, holidaymakers are already at an advantage this Christmas (almost €50 on a £700 order) but you can’t predict how rates will change so it may pay to lock in the rate now for all the essentials on holiday from ski passes to Après Ski.”
