Over 1.5 million views for ‘mockumentary’ launching major campaign for Europcar’s partnership with Arsenal FC

London, December 2014 – Europcar’s video mockumentary ‘Face to Face with the Arsenal Family’ is a hit, with fans clocking more than 1 million views on YouTube and over 700,000 on the Arsenal FC website in just over three weeks. Produced by SPORTS at SMG and LiquidThread, the light-hearted video features Arsenal FC players, Per Mertesacker, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain plus their eccentric ‘family’ members.

With the aim of appealing to Arsenal fans, and football fans in general, the video was designed to raise awareness of Europcar’s partnership with the Club. Launched on 19th November 2014, it received widespread positive media attention and went viral through fans-sharing.

The video uses digital special effects to super-impose Arsenal FC players’ faces onto those of the actors, creating a strong ‘family’ resemblance for the four minute mockumentary. Each story subtly shows how Europcar vehicles are integral to the characters’ lives and illustrates that no matter where you are going or what your family needs, Europcar is ‘Moving Your Way’ to make life easier.

LiquidThread, the branded content arm of Starcom MediaVest Group, developed the creative idea for Europcar, in support of its partnership with Arsenal FC, following the agreement set up by SPORTS at SMG earlier this year.
