Money well spent? One in three Brits forget the presents they received for Christmas within a month and one in ten by Boxing Day Wednesday 24 December 2014 PDF Print 0ne in three Brits (30 per cent) have forgotten the Christmas gifts they were given within a month of the big day, with one in ten (9 per cent) admitting they can’t recall who gave them what by Boxing Day - just 24 hours after. The ‘Christmas To Remember’ study of 1,000 Brits by Harley Street Hair Clinic reveals that men (13 per cent) are more than twice as likely as women (6 per cent) to fail to remember their Christmas presents by December 26th, despite the fact that we spend an average of £331 on our loved ones*. One in five men (22 per cent) said it takes until New Year to forget, compared to one in ten (12 per cent) of women, however, 79 per cent of the nation agreed that they would be more likely to remember an unusual gift or experience. The top five most memorable gifts people have ever received are jewellery (20 per cent), gadgets (15 per cent), a watch (15 per cent), money (10 per cent) and cosmetic surgery or beauty treatments (7 per cent). And we’re not averse to treating ourselves as well, with a whopping 81 per cent of us admitting we buy ourselves a present at Christmas. For women, the most popular self-gifting is cosmetic surgery or beauty treatments - one in five (20 per cent) like to indulge over the festive season, while one in three men (30 per cent) will slip a gadget into the shopping trolley as a ‘Christmas gift to me, from me’. Nadeem Uddin Khan, of Harley Street Hair clinic said: “The statistics suggest that the nation needs to be more creative when it comes to treating their loved ones at Christmas. At Harley Street Hair Clinic we’re starting to see a rise in the number of women booking consultations for their partners in December, as hair transplant’s become more popular due to celebrities speaking about their treatment.
