NORTH YORKSHIRE STATELY HOME LAUNCHES UNIQUE NEW DINING EXPERIENCE Tuesday 13 January 2015 PDF Print Goldsborough Hall is a stunning Jacobean stately home, near Knaresborough, which was once the home of HRH Princess Mary. Owners, Clare and Mark Oglesby, fell in love with the Hall 11 years ago, rescuing it from dereliction and have meticulously restored the beautiful house, which is set in stunning historic private gardens and rolling parkland. Until now, the Hall has mainly been available to hire as a superb venue for private weddings and functions. But now, Clare and Mark are opening up their spectacular dining room for visitors to enjoy. Head Chef Paul Richardson-Mackie’s innovative menus are created using locally sourced produce and seasonal vegetables from the Hall's kitchen garden. Following the official launch, the Dining Room at Goldsborough Hall will be open to guests, offering an intimate and very special experience in one of Yorkshire’s loveliest stately homes. Diners looking to celebrate special occasions in style can indulge in a completely unique experience at the 17th century hall - once the royal residence of the Queen’s aunt Princess Mary, and her husband Viscount Lascelles, with either a la carte or seven-course gourmet meals in its dining room. Fresh from cooking for culinary royalty after crafting the menu for 200 of the country’s top chefs at the Masterchef of Great Britain Dinner, Richardson-Mackie brings his considerable experience as former head chef at Rudding Park, and regular guest chef at the region’s top food and drink shows, to bear on Goldsborough Hall’s Dining Room. With a setting unlike anything in the local area, guests can sip pre-dinner drinks in the stunning Jacobean Library, Princess Mary Drawing Room or garden terrace with its views across the regal 12-acre estate (with its royal Lime Tree Walk and Japanese cherry trees – a wedding gift to the Princess from the Emperor of Japan), before sampling Richardson-Mackie’s menu’s. The Dining Room at Goldsborough Hall will be officially launched on January 22 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at a celebratory event with champagne and canapés. www.goldsboroughhall.com Editor’s Notes • Goldsborough Hall is situated in the village of Goldsborough, just south of the A59 near Knaresborough about five miles from Harrogate and has excellent connections to the A1M, Leeds, York and Leeds/Bradford airport. • Built by Sir Richard Hutton, a prominent London lawyer, in the 17th century, and home to HRH Princess Mary, Goldsborough Hall was saved from developers by Clare and Mark Olglesby in 2005. They have spent the last nine years renovating the building and restoring the grounds. Its most famous resident was HRH Princess Mary – the Queen’s aunt – who lived here in the 1920s after her marriage to Viscount Lascelles, later the 6th Earl of Harewood. • With the highest AA rating in Yorkshire, Goldsborough is one of the county’s most exclusive venues for weddings, functions and luxury accommodation.
