Identifying Drunken Offenders is Number One Nightclub Priority, says AlertSystems Wednesday 21 January 2015 PDF Print acts of vandalism can occur seemingly out of the blue The reaction comes following a report in the Sunderland Echo detailing an incident at a local nightclub that resulted in the vehicle of the landlady being vandalised after closing time on a Saturday night. Paul Turton, 29, left the Hetton Victory Club in Sunderland and proceeded to cause serious damage to a Renault Scenic belonging to landlady Lynda Heath parked to the rear of the premises. Around £580 worth of damage was caused to the vehicle by Mr Turton and an accomplice in an act that has caused serious distress and inconvenience to Ms Heath. Fortunately, Ms Heath was able to call on her CCTV security system in order to identify those responsible. After being able to see clear images to the incident, she was able to identify the main culprit when he re-entered the club. It transpired that Mr Turton was a regular at the club, meaning it was a swift process of identification and apprehension for the local authorities. A spokesperson for AlertSystems, market leaders in business security systems, has released a statement following the report. “As a proprietor of a venue or premises that is the location of large numbers of people under the influence of alcohol, it is all the more important that the correct security measures are taken in order to uphold a suitable level of safety for both staff and customers alike. “As we have seen at the incident at Hetton Victory Club, acts of vandalism can occur seemingly out of the blue and result in hundreds of pounds worth of damage. Ms Heath’s establishment, thankfully, was equipped with a suitable security infrastructure and as a result she was able to successfully identify those responsible for the damage. “Incidents such as this act as evidence to show how important CCTV cameras are in nightclub environments. Both local venue owners and authorities alike can work together effectively in order to ensure those at fault are reprimanded suitably, and it also helps send a message to other customers regarding a zero tolerance policy for criminal damage and violence.” AlertSystems manage and maintain thousands of commercial security installations throughout the UK and are specialists in providing business security solutions.
