Glamping Site in Lathom Hopes for Planning Permission, UK Expo Ltd Comments Thursday 29 January 2015 PDF Print The farming enterprises J Holland & Sons, who own Alice’s Plantation, have recognised the decline in economic sustainability of the farm Leading provider of heavy duty gazebos, UK Expo Ltd, has commented on the recent news regarding the development of a new glamping site at Alice’s plantation in Lathom. If plans are passed by West Lancashire Borough Council, Lathom could see the creation of a brand new glamping site at Alice’s plantation. The developers submitted proposals for the area to be turned into a luxury campsite with 12 bell tents and associated facilities for a six month period of the year. The land is currently under-utilised with woodland surrounding the edge of the field. The site consists of grassland and arable crops and is entirely remote from any buildings. In recent years there have been significant changes in agricultural demands. The farming enterprises J Holland & Sons, who own Alice’s Plantation, have recognised the decline in economic sustainability of the farm and are now looking to broaden the horizons of the site. The proposal is seeking permission for 12 tents accompanied by 12 single wooden compositing toilets and six wooden shower huts. The glamping site will be one of only a few in the North West of England. The business will operate with bookings being taken and glampers arriving on site in their own vehicles. They will be able to unload their belongings from the car at their own personal tent, and then park their vehicle in the parking area adjacent to the farm yards. The decision on the application will be made in the coming weeks. As experts in event tents and kiosks, UK Expo Ltd takes a keen interest in potential opportunities for small business owners. A spokesperson for the company made the following statement: “Glamping is becoming a popular trend that is sweeping the nation. Most British summer festivals now come with a ‘glamping’ option, for those who want to enjoy the outdoors in style and comfort. The development of glamping sites is not only an excellent opportunity for agricultural land owners, but also local businesses. “When enjoying a luxury glamping facility, campers may not always be prepared to cook, as well as not having all the equipment they need and may also have some extra money to spend. This makes a glamping site the perfect destination for pop-up tent and kiosk businesses to find custom. "Glampers will be looking to try local food, instead of struggling with Bunsen burners. Many will have arrived without their toothbrush and torch and even more will simply be looking for a festival-style experience. Business owners selling local goods, food, and products using temporary kiosks at Alice’s Plantation should consider this as a profitable business opportunity.” UK Expo Ltd is a leading provider of heavy duty gazebos for businesses and small traders.
