If expensive train fares are a criticism that can be levelled at Great Britain, this is certainly not the case across the channel with a new Eurostar service offering excellent value for money. International relocation company Interdean responds to the news.

Getting a return from London St Pancras International train station to Lyon can cost as little as £89 throughout the year when sitting in Standard Class. Travelling to the south of France for Marseille costs £99 takes around six hours, so an hourly rate for your whole journey would be £8.25.

The first service is on May 1 and includes a 2 for 1 offer for entry to exhibitions when you show your Eurostar ticket. The recently opened science centre and anthropology museum Musée des Confluences in Lyon is offered in this deal.

Nick Mercer, Commercial Director of Eurostar, said: “Brits have a long standing love affair with the south of France, and our new service brings the gastronomy, culture and art from the region closer to the UK. Eurostar provides an effortless and seamless journey all year round whether it’s for a gastronomic weekend in Lyon, or to soak up Marseille’s sunshine.”

Travellers will not have to arrive half an hour before leaving France to return back to Britain as security checks and check-ins happen in Lille, where passengers leave before they resume their journey to Ashford in Kent or England’s capital.

A spokesperson for Interdean, specialists in international relocation, released a statement following the news. They said: “The lure of visiting France is strong for British citizens for a short trip or a longer holiday and these cheap Eurostar fares will certainly appeal for several members of the population.

“At Interdean we are passionate and experienced at helping people start a new life in a different country and moving to France presents an exciting challenge for those contemplating the move and for us.”
