Temporary Housing in Telford is Dangerous for Residents, Swiftec Group respond Wednesday 4 February 2015 PDF Print Residents have every right to be unhappy An area of Telford has come under fire after residents have spoken out against its dangers for children. People are finding it difficult, Swiftec Group, providers of temporary construction protection, have commented following the complaints. A number of families are unhappy with their living conditions because of cramped room and dangers to young children. Temporary fencing around the Donnington Wood area does not prevent young people from running onto a busy nearby roads which could potentially contribute to a fatal accident. Ben Foster was unimpressed by the hazards and said he was going to join his mother-in-law in residing there before realising the numerous problems. Mr Foster also spoke about the issues where his relative used to live. He said: “The old place had rotting doors and window frames, the floors in the kitchen were slippery and the electricity would often come on and off all the time. There was nothing protecting the electric hook-ups from children putting their hands in where the electricity was running.” According to Telford & Wrekin Council the temporary fencing had been accessed by independent health and safety inspectors and work has begun on raising the fences to two metres. A play area is also due to be built. A spokesperson for Swiftec Group, who offer temporary construction protection for surfaces, have commented on the hazardous conditions. They said: “Residents have every right to be unhappy with their current living conditions. The presence of slippery floors could have resulted in serious injuries for families there.
