CCTV Captures Woman Attempting to Strangle Baby, AlertSystems Reports Monday 23 February 2015 PDF Print The suspect walks straight down the aisle towards the pram, reaches in and seemingly takes a hold of the baby’s throat for a second. Leading providers of commercial security, AlertSystems, have commented on the recent news regarding a woman who reportedly assaulted a stranger’s child in central London. Police have released CCTV from the Boots store at The Strand in Westminster as part of a public appeal to find a woman who reportedly assaulted a one year old boy whilst in the store. The video footage from the shop floor clearly shows a woman with a pram entering Boots on an early afternoon in January. The woman was followed into the shop by a woman wearing a poncho and a deer stalker hat. The suspect walks straight down the aisle towards the pram, reaches in and seemingly takes a hold of the baby’s throat for a second. The CCTV shows the mother of the child had her back turned momentarily. At first she assumes that the woman is simply making a fuss over her child. However, she quickly realises that the woman is assaulting the child and grabs her hand and pushes her away. The woman was escorted out of the Boots by a security guard shortly after. She was last seen walking off towards Trafalgar Square. Police stated: “While the baby was unharmed, the mother was extremely shaken up and traumatised by the incident.” Based on the CCTV footage, the police are now searching for a white woman in her early 60s, slightly over 5ft tall with light-coloured hair. Police have also said that the woman has a distinctive boil or eye deformity on her face. Her clothing was also easily identifiable as she was wearing a poncho with white, red and grey stripes.
