MSI Group recognised as designated body by The General Medical Council Thursday 5 March 2015 PDF Print MSI Group, the specialist healthcare recruiter, has been recognised as an official designated body by the General Medial Council (GMC). All doctors working in the UK require a GMC licence to practise and this has to be renewed through a revalidation process, which is undertaken by a ‘designated body’. The revalidation comprises evidence from an annual appraisal which demonstrates that the doctors comply with professional standards set out by the GMC and doctors are required to revalidate usually every five years. “As a designated body, we are contracting with a GMC approved independent company which provides appraisal and revalidation services so that we can support our UK practicing locum candidates, said Nick Simpson, Chief Executive Officer of the MSI Group. “As a designated body, we have to appoint a registered medical practitioner as a ‘responsible officer’ who will make a recommendation about the doctor’s fitness to practice to the GMC. In our case we have appointed Dr David Bowen, a respected A&E consultant as our Responsible Officer.” “Additionally, we are already developing our Revalidation Support Service for Nurses and Midwives, in preparation for its introduction at the end of this year which will set new requirements for nurses and midwives. Our in-house Clinical Lead Nurses are Senior Nurses who are able to conduct appraisals, comment on fitness to practice and help collect evidence of practice.” - Ends This press release was distributed by ResponseSource Press Release Wire on behalf of BlueSky Public Relations Ltd in the following categories: Business & Finance, Education & Human Resources, Public Sector, Third Sector & Legal, for more information visit http://pressreleasewire.responsesource.com/about.
