Physio Students Help University Gain Endorsement, Physio-Jobs Responds Friday 6 March 2015 PDF Print The university should be incredibly proud of the students and what they’ve achieved. I’m sure they’ll all go on to have great careers Students using their physiotherapy skills have helped their university achieve an endorsement for using simulation in a higher education institution. A Physio-Jobs spokesperson responds to the report. Physio students from the University of Salford have been accredited for their hard work by the North West Simulation Education Network. Students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level used dummies for four years to practise respiratory techniques, taking part in elaborate ‘real life’ situations where they respond to emergency situations. Physiotherapy lecturer at the university, Louise Henstock, claimed that the students are given these real life situations to replicate those facing physios in hospitals up and down the country. They even involve role play by calling the student on their phone and providing X-rays and patient notes, among other things. The performance of the students is then assessed as part of a reflective process, giving them new skills for life.
