Businesses can now utilise Marketo's rich marketing and customer data to gain insights across functions in Microsoft Power BI

DUBLIN, IRE., 20 March 2015 -- Marketo Inc. (NASDAQ: MKTO), a leading provider of engagement marketing software and solutions, today announced the availability of the new Microsoft Power BI connector for Marketo. This new connector brings rich marketing and customer data from Marketo into Microsoft Power BI, a cloud-based business analytics service (software-as-a -service) designed for non-technical business users to monitor and visualise data from across the organization through live dashboards and reports.

Marketo's engagement marketing platform makes it easy for marketers to precisely measure program effectiveness and marketing ROI in a visually compelling way. With the Power BI connector for Marketo, companies can easily combine marketing data with data sets from finance, customer service, operations and other functions to discover new insights and make more informed decisions across the business.

"Data is a critical tool for marketers in this digital era, and marketers have had the benefit of incredibly rich data and analytics across every stage of the customer journey in Marketo," said Sanjay Dholakia, chief marketing officer at Marketo. "With this solution, users can now unleash the power of this marketing data across all business functions with Power BI in an easy and accessible way. Users at all levels can gain actionable insights faster than ever before."

Accessing insights through Microsoft Power BI is simple, where users can ask questions in plain English and receive answers in the form of graphs and charts. For example, Power BI users can query their cross-functional data with simple commands such as "show me percentage of spend by business function," or "show me gross margins for each of my product lines" and within seconds see answers in the form of graphs. Users can then save these visuals onto dashboards for on-going monitoring.

"In this data-driven era, companies need to capture the metrics that truly matter to their business," said James Phillips, general manager of data experiences, Microsoft Power BI. "Businesses can see the big picture and make smart, fact-based decisions using Power BI and Marketo."
