LONDON (25 March 2015) — National Geographic Traveller (UK) is excited to announce the launch of its new interactive iPad app, with a free BEST OF 2014 issue, is now available in the App Store. The app will replace its current page-turner version.

The intuitive new app showcases the great features and stories from its print magazine, but is redesigned and formatted to fit tablet screens, while vividly displaying incredible imagery.

The app is free to download, with current and back single issues available for £2.99. Future issues are also available through an auto-renewing 12-month subscription, priced at £22.99 for 10 issues.

In partnership with PixelMavericks, the app enables users to read content from the magazine offline in landscape view as well as offering a fast and easy search function, contents menu, bookmark features, sharing facilities and full online support.

Editor Pat Riddell said: “With the success of our first page-turner app, we’re excited to offer this new interactive version. The iPad is the ideal platform for a travel magazine as it really brings our stunning photography to life and the intuitive nature of the design makes content easier to access and share.”

Newsstand is Apple’s easy-to-organise bookshelf displaying the covers of a user’s newspaper and magazine subscriptions in one place. A subscription section of the App Store allows users to quickly find popular newspapers and magazines. If subscribed to, new issues appear in the Newsstand and are updated automatically in the background so you always have the latest issue and most recent cover art.

Download National Geographic Traveller (UK) from the App Store on iPad, or at http://ngtr.uk/1Gbwluc. Back issues are uploaded on a regular basis so if you don’t find what you’re after, check at a later date.

National Geographic Traveller (UK) has a cover price of £3.95, via subscription and on newsstands, and is published 10 times a year. Visit natgeotraveller.co.uk for more information.

National Geographic Traveler (USA) is the world’s most widely read travel magazine, created in 1984. It championed sustainable travel before it was cool and, eight times annually, celebrates journeys that are about place, experience, culture, authenticity, living like the locals and great photography. It makes a distinction between tourism and travel and stresses inquisitive, not acquisitive, trips. It employs storytelling and outstanding photography to inspire readers to pick up and go, eschewing fashion and fluff in favour of articles that offer a strong sense of place, inspiring narratives that make readers take trips, and solid service information to help them plan those trips.

The National Geographic Society is one of the world’s largest non-profit scientific and educational organisations. Founded in 1888 to “increase and diffuse geographic knowledge,” the member-supported Society’s mission is to inspire people to care about the planet. Through its online community members can get closer to explorers and photographers, connect with other members around the world and help make a difference. National Geographic reflects the world through its magazines, television programs, films, books, DVDs, radio, maps, exhibitions, live events, school publishing programs, interactive media and merchandise. National Geographic magazine, the Society’s official journal, published in English and 39 local-language editions, is read by more than 60 million people each month. The National Geographic Channel reaches 440 million households in 171 countries in 48 languages. National Geographic Digital Media receives more than 27 million visitors a month. National Geographic has funded more than 10,000 scientific research, conservation and exploration projects and supports an education programme promoting geography literacy.
