Police have now released footage as part of a public appeal. An R M Contractors van was recorded pulling up outside Aurubis UK Ltd, in West Bromwich, at around 10:30am on January 11th. Aurubis is one of the largest suppliers of rolled copper, phosphor bronze, nickel silver and brass strip in the UK. The van can be seen pulling up to the outer gates of the business before two men get out of the vehicle in order to cut the padlocks. The individual also used a blow torch in order to pass through the barrier. After gaining access to the site, the two individuals can be seen using the white Transit vehicle in order to reverse into the roller shutter doors. After being unable to gain entry into the site, the individuals can be seen attempting to climb through the roller shutters. They were unsuccessful and eventually drove off. Police have now released the CCTV images of the incident in a hope to identify the white Transit vehicle used, or the two hooded individuals. As experts in CCTV security, AlertSystems takes a keen interest in relevant news stories. A spokesperson from the company made the following statement upon hearing the news. “Experiencing a break in is always an incredibly stressful situation for businesses. This particular business had CCTV on site, which will contribute enormously to ensuring that the criminals are caught. However, the images taken from the site are of a grainy and low quality. “It is important to always ensure that the most appropriate and up-to-date technology is being used to protect your business. If your gates and barriers have failed to prevent entry, you will need CCTV technology that produces sharp and high definition images in order to effectively guard your premises. If you run a site that is used regularly by vehicles, it may also be beneficial to invest in ANPR. In this instance, ANPR technology and HD IP CCTV could have provided the police with in-depth information about the vehicle and clearer images of the individuals involved.” AlertSystems manage and maintain thousands of commercial security installations throughout the UK and are specialists in providing business security solutions.
