Bury St Edmunds, UK – April 28 2015 – EASY Software UK has announced that an intelligent digital content management solution it provided to specialist data services company Wilmington Insight has enabled the business to handle greater volumes of data with fewer people and deliver the extra information its clients crave.

The current solution, deployed for Wilmington Insight, has enabled staff working on information delivery to charity clients to process much higher volumes of content very quickly. The specialist data service receives documents from external third parties in volumes of around 5,000 each week, and extracts and processes key information from them which it sells on to its charity clients in database form.

Before automating the data extraction, staff in London would have to leaf through pages and pages of documents to find the data they needed, then send the files to another office to be written into the database by teams of copy typists. “We had to collate both contact and financial data manually, and there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing,” says Polly Avgherinos, Wilmington Insight’s Managing Director. “To type up one set of information took one person a whole week.”

EASY Software was the obvious port of call for an automated solution, based on Wilmington’s previous positive experiences. EASY engaged technology partners Abbyy and Fujitsu to design the optimum solution. Fujitsu scanners capture images of incoming paper documents, which are then ‘read’ and deciphered by Abbyy’s Flexicapture data capture and document processing solution; this can intelligently pick out key information on a page.

From having an old-fashioned, manual process, our situation has been completely revolutionised,” Ms Avgherinos says. “We’re definitely unlocking savings from all the efficiencies we’ve gained, and that doesn’t even take into account the additional value we’re able to offer our clients.”

The project has been recognised internally within Wilmington plc too, where it has won the Insight organisation a Process Innovation Award.
