The Atlas Gym at Glyn Square, Wolverton, was the target of a burglary on April 16th.

The Atlas Gym in Wolverton was burgled last week, with the criminals making off with a number of high value items. A spokesperson from commercial security experts, AlertSystems, responds.

The Atlas Gym at Glyn Square, Wolverton, was the target of a burglary on April 16th. It is reported that two laptops, a CCTV system, headphones and a safe containing cash were stolen from the premises. The business also saw the loss of a large number of nutrition products and pots of fat burners. The business is set to carry on as normal and company director, Kenneth Mackmurdie, has announced that the upcoming bodybuilding event that is due to happen on the premises will not be cancelled.

Mr Mackmurdie said that the gym is set to benefit from a new and more advanced CCTV installation, in order to prevent future burglaries. He stated: “It’s an inconvenience to the members, but I do feel quite lucky in a way because it could have been worse. Your worst-case scenario is the building being burned down and that hasn’t happened. It’s not stopped our business and we’re still fully active and open. It’s made myself and my staff more determined than ever to pull off a really good show and we’ll keep going from strength to strength.”

As experts in CCTV security, AlertSystems take a keen interest in news stories such as this. A spokesperson from the company made the following statement. “Mr Mackmurdie’s optimism in the face of adversity is certainly admirable. However, in order to maintain the safety of the staff, members and attendants of the upcoming bodybuilding event, it is imperative that the gym invest in high quality CCTV security. Modern security systems will be able to effectively protect the premises from any future burglary attempts.

“The IP-CCTV security systems are much more difficult to damage and steal. Analogue cameras of the past have proven to be targets for theft and damage. However, updated systems mean that CCTV security is not under the same threats. With IP-CCTV, footage can be streamed wirelessly to a number of different devices and can be stored on a cloud based system.”
