Beijing Tourist Board visits the UK for first time to forge links with industry, assisted by APL Media event management team. Launch of specially commissioned ABTA Magazine Beijing Guide.

London (18 May 2015) – A delegation from the Beijing Tourist Board visited the UK for the first time this May to forge new relationships with the British travel industry and to provide more insight, training and information for the travel trade to help sell China’s capital city.

Central to the inaugural visit, the Beijing Tourist Board hosted two events, in London and Manchester, working with the event management team at APL Media and its flagship trade title ABTA Magazine.

Nikki White, from ABTA, said: “The London event was an interesting opportunity to hear an update from the Beijing Tourist Board. Beijing is a fascinating city, and increasing numbers of our members have itineraries that include the city. We look forward to continuing the relationship and developing a deeper understanding of how they can interact with the UK industry.”

To highlight all of Beijing’s attractions, an ABTA Magazine Beijing Guide was specially commissioned by APL Media, offering 25 excellent reasons to visit and promote Beijing. It’s also available online. http://www.abtamagazine.co.uk/beijing15/

The first event was held at Barshu Restaurant in London’s China Town on Monday 11 May, from 6-8pm; the second, at Manchester’s Sweet Mandarin restaurant, on Tuesday 12 May between 12pm and 2pm.

The aim was to welcome senior travel industry figures and associations, travel agents, tour operators and travel media, and to give them the opportunity to network with the delegation. The Beijing Tourist Board delegation went on to attend the Phocuswright Europe event (12-14 May) in Ireland, promoting further business and ties with Europe.

While in the UK, the Beijing Tourist Board highlighted business and leisure developments that have been central to the appeal of a city that attracts a significant percentage of the 570,000 UK visitors to mainland China each year.
