Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park Hits Fundraising Target, SES Responds Friday 12 June 2015 PDF Print Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park has hit a fundraising target of £60,000 to secure an outdoor classroom The reaction follows the report of Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park hitting its £60,000 funding target for an outdoor classroom. A spokesperson from Southern Ecological Solutions provides a statement. Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park has hit a fundraising target of £60,000 to secure an outdoor classroom, but it’s hoping to raise another £90,000 on top of that. The park has been campaigning for the last five months with activities including bucket collections at shops, pub quizzes, a corporate event and even a yogathon. The outdoor classroom will bring hands-on education to over 2,000 school children, and also train 40 students in urban wildlife and conservation. 150 volunteers will also be taught new skills every year so that they can use what they’ve learnt to help the environment. Overall it is hoped that £150,000 will be raised for the entire project, which would include a new building, infrastructure and staffing to provide ecology education to children and adults. “We are so grateful for all of the support we’ve received so far,” said senior warden Joanne Smith. “The Friends group, local residents and businesses have been really generous with their time and money and this has helped us raise three times as much as we would normally raise in a year. A big thank you to everyone for helping us get closer to our goal and make a bigger difference.” Southern Ecological Solutions, a leading provider of ecological consultancy, takes a keen interest in reports such as this. A spokesperson provided this statement: “This is fantastic news for the ecology park and the outdoor classroom will offer a great destination for the community to go and learn all about the environment. “It’s imperative that we provide children and adults with the resources they need when it comes to the study of ecology, and the Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park is a prime example of what’s possible. With any luck the next fundraising target will also be reached, which will help people get even closer to nature.” Southern Ecological Solutions (SES) is a multidisciplinary independent business that provides ecological and arboricultural consulting services throughout the UK.
