As the winner of the inaugural ‘Fan of the Season’ competition launched by Europcar, the Official Car and Van Rental Partner of Arsenal Football Club, Ernie travelled to and from Emirates stadium from his Finchley home in the comfort of a Europcar chauffeur-driven car. And he was entertained with lunch in the club’s executive dining suite, The Foundry, where he met Arsenal legend, Charlie George. “This has been a magnificent day, and one I’ll never forget,” said Ernie. “I never expected any recognition for supporting a club that has given me so many great memories throughout the years. Nevertheless, I’m extremely grateful to Europcar for the experience and I’m very proud to be named as Arsenal’s Fan of the Season.” Life-long Arsenal fan, Ernie won the Europcar competition by an overwhelming majority after being nominated by his close friend Maryanne Spence. At the grand old age of ninety, Ernie has managed to attend all but a handful of matches, home and away, as well as every Youth, Reserve and Ladies’ team game. It was this sort of tireless commitment to the club which Europcar set out to reward when it launched the competition last season as Europcar UK Group Managing Director, Ken McCall, explains: “Ernie personifies the type of relentless, unwavering, loyalty that makes fans of the Premier League clubs the best in the world.
