With the phenomenal increase of small businesses needing to Auto Enrol on the imminent horizon, Sage has today announced that it has worked with NEST to launch Pensions Data Exchange. This is a new functionality within Sage’s Pensions Module, which allows customers to send and receive relevant pensions data directly to and from their pensions provider with one click, reducing the administrative burden, overheads and potential errors associated with administering Auto Enrolment. It also dramatically eases the pension set-up process, so saving further time, effort and any later correction handling.

The innovative functionality, which seamlessly integrates NEST’s new Web Services functionality, will automate all pension interactions for NEST and Sage’s customers, both direct and via accountants, bookkeepers and commercial bureaux. Moving from a manual process to a ‘one click’ automated tool, the Pensions Data Exchange empowers Sage’s payroll & Pension Module customers to meet important regulatory requirements with greater ease and confidence.

"We are delighted to be at the forefront of this new technology that automates our customers’ exchange of their crucial, regulatory pension information”, commented Lee Perkins, Managing Director for Sage UK and Ireland.

“We have already helped three million employees with Auto Enrolment. This landmark development will transform both Sage and NEST’s customers' experience, delivering an RTI-like journey that will be seamless - from initial pension set-up through to their regular contributions and any related employee change information. We see this as a key, strategic development, and one of many exciting new enhancements to our market leading payroll solutions."

"Hundreds of thousands of the country’s smallest businesses will soon be tackling the administrative burden of Auto Enrolment. Pensions Data Exchange - via our Pensions Module - will help firms to navigate complex processes, save them time and offer new levels of accuracy and efficiency."

Helen Dean, CEO of NEST, adds:

"We’re delighted that payroll providers and software developers are working with NEST to integrate our Web Service functionality, which is designed to streamline the Auto Enrolment process for small employers. Sage is one of the first to deliver a solution using NEST web services and it’s fantastic news that they’re ready to offer their Pensions Data Exchange to their customers.

“With 1.8 million employers needing to put a workplace pension in place by 2017, this is a key development in the roll out of Auto Enrolment."

Claire Brown, Payroll Tax Specialist at a busy Payroll Bureaux 'Tait Walker', commented: "We are avid users of Sage 50 Payroll, with its excellent Pension Module, and we service a range of customer types, sizes and complexities including clients providing NEST pensions to their employees under Auto Enrolment. We welcome this significant enhancement to fully automate the pension process with NEST – just like Sage has done successfully with RTI into HMRC. This will notably reduce workload and pressures and in turn, enable us to provide our clients (and their employees) an even better service."

Sage continuously supports businesses to successfully pay their people and triumph over payday. Its Payroll solutions combine HMRC recognised software with award winning support and providing the tools people need to process their payroll with complete control in the knowledge they are always up-to-date with legislation. The launch of Sage Pensions Data Exchange via its Pensions Module is part of a long term vision to empower small businesses with the tools to accelerate their businesses, delivering speed and efficiency.
