• Two Pocket App projects win silver awards at the UK App Design Awards
• Follows a recent silver accolade in the UK Digital Experience Awards

London – 8th December 2015 - Pocket App, the UK’s largest independent app developer, is delighted to announce it has been named silver winner in both the ‘Best New Service or Application’ and ‘Community’ categories of the UK App Design Awards, for its work on apps, 999eye and My Poppy.

This accolade comes hot on the heels of the recent recognition for Pocket App’s work on My Poppy last month, where the app was named silver winner of the UK Digital Experience Awards’ ‘Charity/Not For Profit’ category.

The 999eye mobile solution was developed for the West Midlands Fire Service to help emergency operators to accurately determine the best response required for an emergency call, by allowing the caller to livestream footage directly to the operator. My Poppy is a new app that for the first time, allows supporters of the annual Poppy Appeal campaign to digitally send a donation to the Royal British Legion.

The App Design Awards are held in London, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Sydney, providing the design community critical links into global markets and an efficient method to gain recognition in export markets.

Selected winning projects will be interviewed at the Design Summit, a one day seminar that aims to explore some of the winning projects. The Summit and the Awards ceremony will take place at The Proud Archivist, London on Thursday 10th December.

The Design Summit will explore these projects, working across four themes - Design Courage, The Design Economy, Made for People and Future Now and will be hosted by renowned Australian presenter Fenella Kernebone assisted by panel members, local design experts and Founder, Mark Bergin. The Awards Presentation and ceremony will take place after the Summit on the same day.

Other winners of the UK App Design Awards 2015 include projects from national and global organisations such as BBC, Rolls-Royce, Pacemaker, West Midlands Fire Service, Pocket App, BMW, Virgin media, Transport for London, Hilton Hotels or Jaguar Talk.

Paul Swaddle, CEO of Pocket App, commented: “We are thrilled that not only one, but two of our projects have been recognised by these prestigious awards. While they are in totally separate industry sectors, at the heart of both of these projects was the need to strengthen the operations of the West Midlands Fire Service and the Royal British Legion through the power of mobile, and we see these awards as confirmation that we have achieved that goal.”
