I want to ensure all of the ILP members have the knowledge, tools and support to deliver excellence in all forms of lighting

Kevin Grigg, Schréder’s Regional Area Manager for the North, has been appointed President of the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP).

As President of the ILP Grigg will direct the operational running of the Institution to deliver the targets set by the Executive Board in its five year strategic and operation plan, including:

• Developing the ILP’s Membership Upgrade Training Programme
• Re-evaluating the ILP Lighting Diploma
• Reviewing the brand and format of ILP Lightscene events
• Ensuring ILP members have the technical knowledge to support Smart City and Internet of Things (IoT) projects
• Evolving ILP relationship with key Infrastructure Industry bodies
• Increasing ILP engagement with Local Authorities
• Expanding the ILP membership base to architects and lighting designers

Grigg succeeds Elizabeth Thomas, the first woman President of the ILP, who commented, “Kevin has been a committed contributor to the Institution for a number of years and I am pleased to welcome him as the new ILP President. His industry knowledge and experience will without doubt add significant value as we continue to develop the role of the ILP within the lighting industry.”

Kevin Grigg commented: “The ILP is part of a wider ecosystem and we will be working with other industry bodies to develop a better understanding of their institutions and build stronger relationships to deliver joint services to all our members.”

Grigg continued: “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success. I want to ensure all of the ILP members have the knowledge, tools and support to deliver excellence in all forms of lighting.”

After entering the lighting industry in 1991 as a Street Lighting Operative for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Grigg joined the ILP as a member in 1992. He has since held a number of positions with the ILP, including: Committee Member Midland Region; Membership Officer; Secretary; Vice Chairman; Chairman of the Midland Region; Past Chairman; Assistant Honorary Treasurer and Senior Vice President.

The ILP is the UK and Ireland's largest and most influential professional lighting association dedicated solely to excellence in all aspects of the lighting industry, including exterior, sports, road, flood, emergency and security lighting, as well as design and consultancy services.
