It is easy to fall in love with a property and let the heart rule the head, but you need to make sure any home will be a safe investment too

- Landmark Information launches service to help homeowners and buyers identify potential environmental risks relating to an individual property -

Landmark Information, the property, land and environmental data and technology company, has today launched Report Finder, which is a free-to-use online tool for consumers that highlights potential environmental risks relating to a property’s location.

By inputting a full property address, the portal searches Landmark’s extensive database for environmental risks and recommends reports that can then be purchased to investigate any highlighted risks in more detail.

The online portal searches for a range of environmental hazards such as whether the home is in a flood risk zone, if the area suffers from ground instability problems, such as subsidence or sinkholes, or whether the home is located in an area where radon is detected. It also identifies if any large-scale planning applications or energy or infrastructure projects are in the vicinity, which you may wish to investigate in more detail.

Rob Phillipson, Sales & Product Director at Landmark Information: “It is easy to fall in love with a property and let the heart rule the head, but you need to make sure any home will be a safe investment too. After all, property is likely to be the most expensive purchase you will ever make and so it pays to protect your investment with a few vital checks. Report Finder is a free-to-use online tool that lets you discover if there are potential environmental or other locational risks to a given property and points you in the right direction so you can investigate these further if necessary.”

The service assesses data from a wide range of sources and is provided by the team from Landmark Information, which provides over 900,000 due diligence reports every year in support of conveyancing transactions.
