Taff Ely GPs have appointed Lexacom, the UK’s leading provider of digital dictation and speech recognition software, to supply cloud-based document creation services across a cluster of eight practices in Taff Ely.

As part of their strategy to improve efficiency and patient care, the GPs in the area have rolled out Lexacom Connect and Lexacom Mobile, giving all practices in the cluster the capability to share secretarial work and dictate documents on the move.

Having assessed a range of options, the cluster was keen to take advantage of the full range of services available through the Lexacom 3 platform, including digital dictation, clinical integration and secure outsourced transcription services. Crucially, Lexacom Connect gives the GP practices the capability to share workload quickly and easily, without the need for shared networks. Lexacom’s secure, fully encrypted cloud-based service gives practices full control over what is shared and with whom, and ensures best use is made of the admin resources available.

Lexacom 3 is the only digital dictation solution which integrates fully with all leading clinical systems. This enables GPs to dictate directly into a patient record from the clinical system and attach relevant test results and other information, providing a full audit trail throughout. With the addition of the Lexacom Mobile app, the cluster’s GPs can dictate from any location, ensuring accurate and immediate recording of notes and referrals, and a steady flow of work for the administration team.

Although the software has been purchased by the cluster for all eight GP practices, each implementation has been tailored to suit individual practice needs. With initial training provided and ongoing technical support included in the contract, the eight practices are now able to work efficiently both on their own and as a group.

Dr. Andrew Whiteley, Managing Director of Lexacom said: “We are delighted to be working with Taff Ely Cluster to provide a digital dictation solution which will support more integrated working across GP practices. They have been very forward thinking in purchasing a solution for their cluster, which will support ongoing improvements in efficiency.”
