Vivastreet, the UK’s online classified ads service is launching an auction style fundraising campaign to support Ugly Mugs.
Ugly Mugs is a registered charity which operates as part of the UK Network of Sex Work Projects (UKNSWP). It gives anyone working in the adult industries the opportunity to report dangerous individuals and with consent, share that information with the police to secure convictions.
Although there are a number of small regional services providing a similar service, the National Ugly Mug (NUM) campaign is free and consolidates the information it gathers onto a national database, the first of its kind in the world.
Details about offenders, including their mobile number and a physical description are then sent out to members via text or email to help prevent them from becoming victims of a crime.
