The Postal Museum turns heirlooms into insight with Advanced

The Postal Museum

The Postal Museum, public identity of the charitable Postal Heritage Trust, has turned to software and services provider, Advanced for a technology solution to gain tighter financial control of its operations. The charity will launch a brand new heritage visitor attraction spanning five centuries of communications history in mid-2017. Alongside interactive galleries, visitors will also be able to take an immersive ride on part of the underground Mail Rail, a hidden, miniature railway that ran beneath London’s streets for more than three quarters of a century. Ahead of the opening the charity is keen to use the latest mobile-enabled accounting technology to deliver easy access to valuable financial insight and productivity of its staff as it moves to a more commercial environment.

Advanced’s financial technology solution, Exchequer, offers one integrated finance and business software solution, making it easier for the Postal Heritage Trust to manage and gain financial insight of the multiple income streams that it will operate as it gears up for its public launch.

“Opening a new, public attraction means we will naturally become more commercial, and need to manage the challenges that come with that. Having a trustworthy technology solution will be essential to manage the core financials, drive better budget management and make it simple and easy to share financial insight with key members of staff. At the same time, we wanted it to make a positive impact on our teams. Through the mobile application in Exchequer we can increase productivity and efficiency across our all our financial work, from making it as simple to input expenses as possible to providing at a glance understanding of our financial position. As it is so intuitive, it will save time, ensuring we have the latest up to date picture of our finances and allowing us to focus on making The Postal Museum experience as amazing for our visitors as we possibly can,” says Lesley Kirk, Director of Finance and Resources, The Postal Heritage Trust.

“The Postal Heritage Trust is a growing organisation that recognised it needed stronger financial control and fast access to management information. Exchequer has a track record with charities looking to improve the way they manage and operate their business. The fast implementation will ensure they can get up-and-running way ahead of the launch of their new attraction to benefit from greater financial insights,” comments Jon Wrennall, Chief Technology Officer, Advanced.

The Postal Heritage Trust will use Exchequer to manage its core financial operations, with the project go live scheduled for early 2017.
