Cryoaction cryotherapy client, Leicester City win Premier League

Leicester City cryotherapy chamber

Leicester City are now officially the coolest Premier League champions.

In one of the most amazing stories in modern football, CryoAction client's, Leicester City Football Club have won the Premier League title for the 2015/6 season.

From battling relegation in the previous season, the club has fought back to take on the biggest clubs in the most intense and competitive league in the world and emerge victorious.

Leicester City are early adopters of whole body cryotherapy, having brought in a rental chamber at the end of the previous season. They then embarked on an amazing run of victories, winning seven out of nine games, that took the club from near certainties for relegation to eventually finishing in 14th place.

For the 2015/6 season, the club was again suggested as primary candidates for relegation and bookmakers offered odds of 5000/1 against a Premiership title.

Building on the previous season, Leicester City decided to get a permanent whole body cryotherapy unit installed at their training ground. CryoAction sourced and installed a cryotherapy chamber for the club in the pre-season and later delivered a bespoke designed cryochamber for the club.

The chamber delivers treatments of supercooled air at temperatures of -135°C (-211°F). The 3 minute treatment promotes wellness while dramatically reducing fatigue and the impact of soft tissue injuries resulting from the intensity of successive games and training.

The team and backroom staff are now strong advocates for whole body cryotherapy and the technology has a key place in the recovery protocols for both post-match and post-training. Star striker, Jamie Vardy praised the club for purchasing the chamber as the treatments helped him to keep playing and break the Premier League record for goals scored in consecutive games, after undergoing repeated treatments for an ongoing injury.

This season, Leicester City have appeared at the bottom of the Premier League's injury list. The club has managed to maintain the health and fitness of its key players, using just 23 players throughout the season. Most of have missed almost no football this season - in fact their 15th most used player, Nathan Dyer, has played just 213 minutes this season. As a comparison that is a quarter of the number of Spurs' 15th most used player (Kevin Wimmer, 813 mins), and fifth of Arsenal's (Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 925 mins). It is testament to the clubs backroom team such as Dave Rennie, (Head Physiotherapist), Matt Reeves, (Head of fitness and conditioning) and Simon Murphy (First team physiotherapist) and to their integration of recovery protocols including the CryoAction cryotherapy chamber.

CryoAction co-founder, Ian Saunders, commented " We are so happy that Leicester City have won the Premier League title. We are delighted to work with such a great team with a wonderful team spirit on their truly incredible journey. There is little doubt that keeping the players healthy, injury free and together has helped them towards the title.
The backroom team have blazed a trail through the adoption of technology such as our cryotherapy chamber and we send our congratulations to everyone at the club."
