According to a certificate issued by the Spanish Department of Interior on July 3 2012, Vladimir Kokorev, an entrepreneur resident in Spain, is not and was not an object of any police investigation.

The declaration refutes the accusations by the Spanish newspaper EL PAIS, which it launched against the businessman of Russian origin. Over the last 3 years, EL PAIS has published over a dozen articles stating that Vladimir Kokorev has supposedly been under investigation by Spanish police in relation to an alleged acquisition of real estate by the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang. The publications, all signed by journalist Jose Maria Irujo, include quotes from a police report supposedly filtrated to the newspaper, which as it turns out, never even existed in the first place.
