The Work Playground Becomes a B-Corporation

London, 24 July 2017 – People and organisational development company The Work Playground, has boosted its commitment to being a ‘force for good’ by becoming a certified B-Corporation.

To be awarded a B-Corporation certification, a for-profit business must meet a threshold level of social and environmental impact and embed its commitment to delivering these in its company articles. The Work Playground is now one of only 100 certified B-Corporations in the UK, which are certified by the non-profit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

“Making profit for purpose has always been our motivation, but achieving the rigorous certification of B-Corporation status means that it is now part of our organisation’s DNA,” explains Liz Wilson, Co-Founder at The Work Playground. “We have always prided ourselves on amazing personal relationships with clients. This is important because people buy from people and they care about working with purposeful and ethical organisations that care about their people So, we’re holding ourselves to very high standards through the B-Corporation status and hope to inspire others to do the same.”

The Work Playground has developed two extensive frameworks in support of its B-Corporation status. Its behavioural framework features extensive ‘codes’ around being a force for good, leading the way, energising for action, working as one team and focusing on what matters. Its ‘How well am I doing?’ framework supports objective setting and ongoing performance feedback and reviews for the internal teams and network of associates.

The Company donates a percentage of its annual profits in time and services to deliver programmes such as Eudomonics in schools, businesses and local communities. Fundamentally about energy management, Eudomonics works on the principle that when people optimise their core energies, they’re able to maximise their potential, be authentic and achieve great success.  The programme develops knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviours to optimise performance through activities and experiences that develop peoples’ engagement with their purpose, relationships, mental focus and vitality.

Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,000 Certified B Corps from 33 countries and over 60 industries working together toward one unifying goal: to redefine success in business.
Wilson concludes, “We’re incredibly excited to be involved with the B-Corporation movement at this early stage.”
