A Perfect Wild weekend festival of Adventure planned for Purbeck in Dorset

A Perfect Wild weekend festival of Adventure planned for Purbeck in Dorset

Climbing, wild swimming, Nordic Walking, miles of mountain bike trials and nearly 30 miles of glorious Coast and Countryside to run it. It sounds like the Peak District or Scotland? No, Purbeck on the Dorset Coast is becoming a fast favourite for a whole sector of ‘Get out doors’ lovers from across the Uk, looking for adventure a bit closer to the M25.

Anchoring all this together is a multi event weekend known as T POW (The Purbeck Outdoor Weekend.) From September 15th - 17th. The idea morphed from the hugely successful ‘Purbeck Marathon’ which quickly set it’s self in the top three marathons in the Country, captivating all who took part, for it’s unique Jurassic Coast setting, covering some of the Uk’s most iconic landmarks . 2016 saw this become a fully developed running festival incorporating a companion 16k, plus a hugely successful Nordic Walking Festival.

Founder and Organizer Jason Haiselden has been astounded by its success:

He says:

I hope the full adventure programme for 2017, will have huge appeal. With the concept of the Marathon already well established, we were contacted by additional members of the outdoor community to encompass events into a proper all round adventure weekend festival , and also have the opportunity to showcase the area on such a big scale. We also now have charitable status, and it’s hugely rewarding to be able to give back to local community

For 2017 an Ironman style event is being planned, as well as a climbing festival and a Sunday morning Jog/and dog..With the potential for dementia friendly Nordic walking and family run, Jason says:

I think people are excited that the area is really accessible, rather than travelling for miles and miles, and anyone who has been here will tell you there is no where quite like it, you can dive, coasteer, hike even Slack Line and kite surf all in 48 hours! There really is something for everyone, in celebration of the outdoors, and all that Dorset has to offer.

Entries are now open for the Purbeck Running Festival and Bike Bimble, with additional event information being added to the web site all the time.
