One of Dame Elizabeth Taylors final and most personal wishes before her death was to have a blue plaque erected at the place of her birth; Heathwood, 8 Wildwood Road, Hampstead Garden Suburb, London. U.K.
This request was made in person to TV presenter and journalist, Matthew Wright.
English Heritage are the longest standing establishment for commemorative Blue Plaques. They have a golden rule that the subject of each proposal must have been dead for 20 years to allow for that person’s reputation to ‘fully mature’.
Matthew wrote to English Heritage to ask that they make an exception for Elizabeth Taylor.
Unfortunately his request was rejected.
