Tivola Publishing announces the pre-Christmas arrival of three new CDROM titles aimed at bolstering its award-winning festive line up of titles aimed at children, young people and the young at heart.
Leading the launch trio this winter is Webmaster, the second title from Tivola’s partnership with Amsterdam-based developer studio, Ijsfontein, following on from last year’s BAFTA award-winning Masters of the Elements. The latest 3D animated adventure offers players a second chance to discover the unique white-gloved navigation and mouse interactivity game play called Tactile Delusion. Via the familiar gloved hand featured in Masters, players can navigate instinctually and intuitively through the game play, as opposed to moving digitally through a pre-planned point and click environment.
Andy Law, sales and marketing director, Tivola Publishing reveals all; "In a normal game, the mouse operates as an input device used to point, drag and click. In Webmaster, as in Masters before it, Ijsfontein’s revolutionary Tactile Delusion software puts the suggestion of feeling into the players’ mouse action, which goes a lot further than the digital click. It is about a hand to eye coordination that suggests weight, friction, elasticity and other such kinds of tactility. In other words players feel like their mouse is subject to friction.
"Essentially, whilst many companies are faking ‘feeling’ through hard input devices like body sensors and play station dual shock controllers, Ijsfontein are doing it - through software. And, unlike Masters, which conveyed a feel for science and physics in particular, Webmaster is probably the first title released by Tivola that doesn’t contain specific educational elements. And, although it does seek to introduce players to the functions of the Internet, it should be considered closer to the game genre. This is very much a reflection of our intended longer term strategy to widen our portfolio of titles that will appeal to older children and young gamers."
Webmaster invites players to take a journey to the heart of the Dream Wide Web to foil the plans of an unscrupulous hacker who is trying to take over the Internet. Once players have cracked the code to four firewalls their journey moves onto the (real) Internet for one final battle at the Hacker’s homepage.
Also new this week from Tivola is the third Great Games Compendium with five new games for both one and two players based on the coin-op arcade best sellers Priced at just £9.99, the latest compendium bundle includes Crazy Straws, Shifting Blacks, Catch the Worms, Save the Sleeping Beauty and Scoot and Score.
And finally, Tivola’s popular comic book style detective series featuring the TKKG gang gets a boost with the launch of a TKKG Identikit, a new activity-based photo fit game for PC and MAC priced at £9.99. Players can build their photo fit images from hundreds of possible combinations of faces, noses, eyes, beards and moustaches and headgear to try out.
