Leading the launch trio this winter is Webmaster, the second title from Tivola’s partnership with Amsterdam-based developer studio, Ijsfontein, following on from last year’s BAFTA award-winning Masters of the Elements. The latest 3D animated adventure offers players a second chance to discover the unique white-gloved navigation and mouse interactivity game play called Tactile Delusion. Via the familiar gloved hand featured in Masters, players can navigate instinctually and intuitively through the game play, as opposed to moving digitally through a pre-planned point and click environment. In Webmaster, as in Masters before it, Ijsfontein’s revolutionary Tactile Delusion software puts the suggestion of feeling into the players’ mouse action, which goes a lot further than the digital click. It is about a hand to eye coordination that suggests weight, friction, elasticity and other such kinds of tactility. In other words players feel like their mouse is subject to friction. "Essentially, whilst many companies are faking ‘feeling’ through hard input devices like body sensors and play station dual shock controllers, Ijsfontein are doing it - through software. And, unlike Masters, which conveyed a feel for science and physics in particular, Webmaster is probably the first title released by Tivola that doesn’t contain specific educational elements. And, although it does seek to introduce players to the functions of the Internet, it should be considered closer to the game genre. This is very much a reflection of our intended longer term strategy to widen our portfolio of titles that will appeal to older children and young gamers."
