New value-added services extends customer empowerment
ipulsys, the managed IP services and virtual Operational Support System
(OSS) provider, and Ericsson, the leading mobile communications supplier,
will extend further the business environment to the mobile user. As part
of the agreement, Ericsson's Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) portal
will be deployed to allow ipulsys' customers wireless access, via a WAP
phone, PDAs and laptops, to critical business applications, such as the
company's interactive Customer Engagement solution (iCE) and, ultimately,
unipulse, its business grade Unified Messaging solution. In addition, the
solution will give customers access to outsourced services and locally
managed applications. Such mobile office applications are becoming
essential for business and corporate users.
The new application solidifies ipulsys' business strategy to empower
customers by giving them control of their business anytime, anywhere. The
ultimate aim is to make all solutions wireless "ready" and both device and
location independent in the near future.
The WAP solution can be integrated easily with legacy applications and is
competitively priced with top of the line security, such as leading
encryption standards, and market leading performance functionality.
"We feel that Ericsson is the best poised to work with ipulsys to address
the needs of the business user in the wireless arena. Ericsson's
understanding of the business and wireless data markets and its progress
with extending the corporate office to business users is highly regarded
in the industry, thus making a perfect fit for us," said Brian Meadows,
Executive Vice President, Business Development, ipulsys.
"The mobility of the business end-user continues as does their demand for
more personalised communications. Access to corporate intranet
applications by mobile workers is a key requirement - our strategy is to
address this need. User flexibility is key, as is ease of deployment -
giving our customers a solution that feels like their own but without the
added costs of buying direct with the hassle of integration," continued
"Wireless access via WAP portals and mobile business solutions give
companies a new dimension for their communication." said Björn Eisner,
Vice President and General Manager Ericsson GmbH Germany. "Companies that
adopt wireless portal strategies will be viewed as progressive by their
customers. ipulsys will be one of the few service providers able to
provide this edge to the business community. We are delighted to support
ipulsys with future-proof technology and solutions."
