Telia and Envox sign distribution agreement for text-to-speech technology Thursday 21 December 2000 PDF Print Telia and Envox sign distribution agreement for text-to-speech technology 20th December 2000, Stockholm, Sweden. Envox*, a leading developer of Windows NT®-based communications platforms and development software, announces today that it has entered into an agreement to become an authorised distributor of the Infovox text-to-speech product from Telia Promotor. The announcement means that application developers and system integrators working with Envox products can more easily build text-to-speech capabilities into their solutions. Text-to-speech can be used to ‘read’ emails to people phoning into universal messaging in-boxes (as part of a unified messaging solution); to read personalised database information to callers using interactive voice response (IVR) systems; and as part of many other business communication solutions. The Infovox product will be integrated into the Envox communications development platform, adding to the impressive array of speech recognition technologies (such as natural language speech recognition technologies from Nuance and Philips) already supported by the product. "We are delighted that Envox has chosen to work with our product" said Urban Pettersson, Sales and Marketing Manager, Telia Promotor. "Envox has a strong product offering and a truly global distribution network. We believe that by partnering with Envox we can extend the global reach of our sales and marketing effort, helping us reach new markets with Infovox faster and more effectively than would otherwise have been possible". Today, Envox has a reseller network comprising 60 resellers in 40 countries. The company has regional headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden; Boston, USA; and in Singapore. About Infovox Infovox is a diphone-based text-to-speech software package, built with a library of pre-recorded human speech diphones for improved natural-sounding speech quality.
