BT Indirect Channels has launched a new programme for selected affiliates to sell a range of BT products via their websites. The programme allows new partners to ‘pick and choose’ the products that they promote, selecting those best suited to their audience. BT aims to have 1,000 affiliates signed up by the end of January 2001.
The initiative moves on from the traditional banner advertising model with affiliates earning generous commission only on the products sold through the banner displays on their site. Partners download the product ‘button’ they are interested in and then take responsibility for the effective promotion of the services. BT will work closely with them to generate the highest number of successful hits.
Already included in the programme are BT Internet, BT Conferencing, BT Highway and specialist e-business products StoreCentre and TrustWise. More products will be added shortly, including mobile phones and BT’s Connect to Business access product.

The programme has been launched with the technical backing of affiliate marketing specialists, MagicButton. Established two years ago, MagicButton is working with some of the UK and Europe’s leading brands, providing e-commerce consultancy and helping clients to reach new markets and form revenue-sharing partnerships.
