UK's Leading Clothing Retailer Signs Contract With J.D. Edwards to Implement OneWorld Solution
J.D. Edwards, the leading supplier of business-to-business software solutions for the extended enterprise, today announced that Arcadia Group, the UK's second largest clothing retailer, has purchased J.D. Edwards OneWorld solution. Running on an AS/400 platform, OneWorld will be used in Arcadia Groups' offices in Leeds and London.
Arcadia Group owns some of the most popular high street High Street Brands in the UK. These include Topshop/Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Burton, Miss Selfridge, Principles and others. The contract will supply Arcadia Group with the foundation, financial and project management modules for core Finance and Administration processes in the company.
Arcadia Group has also purchased Magellan software for document management within its accounting centre for initially storing invoices. It will then be possible to view the purchase order using OneWorld and the scanned image of the invoice using Magellan.
The flexibility of the system was seen as essential for Arcadia Group. The software solution from J.D. Edwards was chosen as the only AS/400 product on the market that can be continually expanded and developed to allow Arcadia Group to change its business processes as market dynamics demand it. With an AS/400 background, the Arcadia Group chose OneWorld based on its ability to operate on the existing platform - a crucial element in their decision.
J.D. Edwards' One World implementation will be undertaken by Caraway, who offer a variety of key IT services to other fashion retail companies and are in a unique position to provide effective solutions with their extensive knowledge of both the retail and IT sectors.
"J.D. Edwards' OneWorld fits the Arcadia Group business requirements as well as supporting our strategy of continuing to run the Arcadia operational systems on AS/400s" said Robin Turner, Managing Director of Caraway Ltd. "The first programme of the J.D. Edwards' OneWorld implementation will allow Arcadia to consolidate their core Financial and Administration systems and streamline existing processes, resulting in significant cost savings."
Once the J.D. Edwards currently planned programme is completed, Caraway will then begin another programme to look at Arcadia's remaining Finance and Administration systems to see how they could also be incorporated into OneWorld. These remaining systems are predominantly PC based applications. The long-term plan for Caraway is to run all of Arcadia Group's financials and administrative processes on J.D. Edwards OneWorld.
Trevor Salomon, marketing director, J.D. Edwards said, "The programme that Caraway is implementing on behalf of Arcadia Group is very important for J.D. Edwards, and is a great testimonial to the financial business functionality we have built into OneWorld. J.D. Edwards is working with a range of organisations such as Arcadia Group to implement their new business solutions quickly and allow them the flexibility to change in the future, according to the demands of a retail market."
