Canon Gives UK Businesses Collective IT Know How Thursday 4 January 2001 PDF Print Following a successful programme of free seminars to businesses up and down the country Canon Business Solutions, together with its partners Microsoft, 3 Com and Hewlett Packard, is offering a one-stop IT solution for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) which typically have between 10 and 200 employees. "Keeping up with the latest information technology can be difficult for companies, particularly those who have just started out or have limited resources," explains Trevor Dodsworth, Canon Business Solutions. "In a recent survey* looking at IT activity within the SME market, 72% of employers believe that the quality of the equipment they use has a major effect on their employee's productivity and 20% of each day is wasted due to a lack of reliable IT equipment. Building up a knowledge base within an organisation can be particularly difficult when financial resource and expertise is limited. "This is why Canon offers a single point of contact for all business IT needs including telecomms through Canon Voice & Data, network infrastructure, internet access and imaging technology," adds Trevor. Just some of the products and services proposed by Canon include Microsoft's new Small Business Server 4.5 described by Tim Kimber of Microsoft as: "an affordable integrated software package, primarily designed for small businesses, to grow with a company as it expands." A wireless network solution described by Paul Fontaine from 3 Com as "a radically simple network installation, capable of offering seamless connections whether in the home or office at an affordable price." And Hewlett Packard's Netserver E800, the Brio BA410 and Omnibook XE3 which offer a useful hardware package to "fulfil the needs of any SME, giving them powerful tools at competitive prices," says HP's Paul Weathers. Once a business' IT requirements have been audited according to its objectives, and the appropriate installation made, Canon can offer an IT support role ensuring a consistently high level of service is maintained. "We will deliver a working system straight from the box which can be swiftly and efficiently integrated within any small to medium business infrastructure," concludes Trevor Dodsworth. These were just some of the solutions proposed by Canon and its partners during the two-week seminars which took place in four locations throughout the midlands and the south of the UK.
