BSkyB SELECTS CHORDIANT SOFTWARE FOR £MULTI-MILLION UNIFIED CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (CRM) STRATEGY Thursday 11 January 2001 PDF Print London, UK, 11 January 2000 - Chordiant Software Inc., a leading provider of e-business infrastructure software for customer interaction, today announced that British Sky Broadcasting, the UK's leading digital broadcaster, is investing several million pounds in its strategic CRM software. The selection follows BSkyB's announcement in February that it would lead innovation in customer service by upgrading its customer contact facilities in Scotland with state of the art technology and processes. The initiative takes forward BSkyB's drive to extend its existing relationship as supplier of television services to 4.95 million homes into multiple products and services that reach consumers both at home and on the move. The flexibility of Chordiant's architecture is expected to enable Sky to support the rapid and successful launch of these new products, which encompass services for digital satellite television, the web and interactive mobile phones. When the new customer contact centre comes on line, Sky digital customers will be able to pay their bills, check the status of their account and upgrade their programming packages via interactive television, the internet and interactive mobile phones, as well as by telephone. Chordiant V.2 unifies and manages customer communications, integrating information from the service channels into a "single view" of each customer. This integrated data is expected to strengthen BSkyB's ability to offer more relevant, personalised services to customers and to identify new sales opportunities. Mike Hughes, managing director of Sky Services, commented: "With the number of Sky digital customers expected to rise from four million to seven million by 2003, BSkyB is committed to responding quickly to rapidly changing customer demands." He continued: "Not only will Sky's investment in customer service let customers contact us by the device they find convenient, it will also enhance efficiency and allow us to introduce and support new services. The selection of the Chordiant solution is a significant step towards achieving these goals." Sam Spadafora, CEO, Chordiant Software said: "BSkyB is the epitome of a Chordiant customer - a large consumer-facing organisation with millions of customers, varied products and services, multiple methods of communication with the customer, complex business processes and legacy data stored in a variety of standalone systems. It's an incredibly complex environment that needs an extreme CRM solution to service customers properly. Chordiant V.2 has been designed specifically to enable such complicated solutions, which is why important customers like BSkyB are choosing us to help carry out their pioneering strategies." BSkyB plans on integrating Chordiant's V.2 infrastructure with a new billing system and new telephony and CTI environment at the front end, and with multiple legacy systems at the back end, including a sales system, field management system, marketing system and customer database.
