CMP to help make PR more accountable with the acquisition of PR Audit

London, 11 January 2001. CMP Europe Ltd. announced today the acquisition (1) of The Performance Rating Agency (PRA), specialists in editorial evaluation for the IT industry and suppliers of PR AUDiT, the product that evaluates the impact of companies PR campaigns.

PRA is a perfect fit to the hi tech sector focus of CMP, the business to business marketing services and information company, and this move broadens CMP's offering of marketing services. Plans are in place to extend the geographical reach of the service into Europe and also to cover the telecommunications and games markets.

PR AUDiT monitors the top 35 IT publications in the UK covering 75 000 technology articles, and provides its customers with an analysis of their editorial coverage in a comprehensive report. PR AUDiT’s reports, aimed at helping make companies’ spend on PR more effective, demonstrate which areas of a company’s PR activity need to be worked on and how well each company is performing. Crucially, this is compared with other companies to show whether PR is helping win the competitive battle.

In addition, PR AUDiT offers a wide range of services to IT companies, including journalist profiles, identification of hot topics and an assessment of a company's position compared to their competitors.

The information supplied enables the customer to plan and monitor PR campaigns in a more measured way.
