15th January 2001 - Lost Wax, a European e-commerce technology company, appoints Mike Harris, founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Egg plc, to its board. Mike Harris’s experience in building successful brands such as Egg, First Direct and Mercury will be invaluable to Lost Wax as it continues to build its reputation as a breakthrough technology company.

Mike Harris is Executive Vice Chairman of Egg plc, Britain’s leading Internet financial services company. Egg’s success and profile set the agenda for the financial services industry two years ago and inspired a series of imitators. Prior to launching Egg, Mike had a similar impact on the banking industry in 1988 as Founder and Chief Executive of First Direct, launching the world’s first mould-breaking direct telephone banking operation. As Chief Executive of Mercury, the first European telecommunications company to challenge BT as the UK telecommunications market was deregulated, Mike launched a number of major businesses including the mobile operator One to One.

"Mike is widely acknowledged as a business pioneer for launching Egg and First Direct. He is an inspirational business leader and also a coach and mentor to me personally. We are privileged to be able to draw upon his expertise in creating visionary companies that are built to last," commented Tom Ilube, CEO Lost Wax.

Mike Harris added, "I build companies that have the ability to transform the industry they are in. In Lost Wax, I see a ground-breaking company whose agent technology has the potential to radically alter the software industry. Tom has the vision to keep Lost Wax at the forefront of technology innovation and I am looking forward to helping him make that vision a reality."
