OneSwoop to provide content, commerce and communication for BTopenworld's
1.2 million customers, underlining the company's leadership of the online
car retail market
OneSwoop (www.oneswoop.com), the UK's leading online car retailer, today
announced a 12-month partnership deal with BTopenworld, BT's mass market
Internet business, to become the first new car retailer to feature on the
automotive channel of the BTinternet (www.btinternet.com) and BTopenworld
broadband (www.btopenworld.com) portals.
The deal will give BTopenworld customers instant access to OneSwoop's
extensive catalogue of models through a "virtual forecourt" on the Web
site's automotive pages. Customers will be able to search the
comprehensive range of models offered by OneSwoop, get updated news and
view the latest special offers by selecting a link directly from the
automotive channel on the BTinternet and the BTopenworld broadband
web-sites. Customers will also be able to click on the 'Imports' and 'New
and Used' buttons on the automotive pages and submit an online search form
to find a car and quote that meets their specifications, from across the
OneSwoop Now, Express and Custom services.
Tom Buehlmann, marketing director, OneSwoop, said, "OneSwoop's partnership
with a well known and trusted portal, like BT, highlights the company's
pole position as the leading online car retailer. The deal further
strengthens OneSwoop's long-term ability to compete with our online rivals
and will considerably widen the company's potential customer base."
"The deal sees the launch of OneSwoop's first 'virtual showroom', where
car buyers can search the models on offer and compare our low prices from
their portal for the first time," he continued. "Opening our 'virtual
showroom' on a popular portal, like BTinternet, is the online equivalent
of opening a car showroom on Oxford Street. The high number of
subscribers surfing the portal's motoring content are like the consumers
browsing shop-windows on the high street looking for the best quality at
the most attractive price - exactly the type of consumers who will take
advantage of savings of up to 20 per cent offered by OneSwoop."
Buehlmann added, "The deal also gives us further opportunities to extend
the scope of our innovative online marketing techniques. We can now
tailor co-branded pages to sit on the portal and have a comprehensive
package of communications opportunities to drive site traffic, from emails
to registered users and home page promotions to banner advertising and pop
Starcom IP brokered the deal with BTopenworld on behalf of OneSwoop. Jez
Groom, director of Starcom IP, said, "Today's announcement clearly
demonstrates how e-partnerships can be realised, offering flexibility,
accountability and a clear understanding of the market. This is the first
of several deals for OneSwoop which will marry content, commerce and
communication relationships that deliver measurable value."
Stephen Brown, head of marketing BTinternet, said, "OneSwoop offers a
solid breadth of services, customer service and low prices that meet our
customers growing needs for online automotive solutions."
The partnership is one of many ambitious new deals made by OneSwoop over
the last few weeks, aimed at enhancing the usability of its web-site,
broadening its offering and further improving levels of customer service.
Other enhancements have included offering personal loans from Marks and
Spencer Financial Services, providing car insurance through Auto Direct,
and adding free one year AA breakdown cover on all cars sold.
