Imerge Ltd, the Cambridge-based company that is at the forefront of
developing Internet-enabled hard disk-based consumer electronics audio-
visual products, has now completed a second round of funding totalling
£5.3 million. The round has been co-ordinated by far blue, the
technology investment and management group, and comprises £2 million
from Friends Ivory Sime Private Equity, £750,000 from Yorkshire Fund
Managers, £500,000 from Aberdeen Asset Managers, $1 million from JVB
Private Equity, led by Kevin Shepherd, £250,00 from Emblem Technology
Partners, £500,000 from far blue and £600,000 from Generics Group.

The funding will support the launch of products based on Imerge's XiVA
media appliance software, including SoundServer, and a Home Media
Server.

According to Chris Fitzsimmons, Investment Management Director at far
blue, "far blue has recognised the fundamental change in consumer
electronics from analogue to digital. Most digital products will require
storage and software to manage their content and Imerge has the
technical expertise to lead in the software and hardware design of hard
disk-based devices. Imerge has a solid team of directors, who we have
known for a number of years, and is now producing world-beating new
products."

Robin Lincoln, Investment Director at Friends Ivory Sime gave his
reasons for investing in Imerge, "Imerge is a fantastic business,
combining the best of media and technology - both key areas of sector
focus for Friends Ivory & Sime Private Equity. This is one of the most
exciting investment opportunities we have seen this year."

Jock Gardiner, Investment Director, Aberdeen Asset Managers, "Imerge is
a company with a visionary offering in XiVA, a quality new product in
SoundServer and a track record of new product development. I am also
impressed by the management team led by Adrian Lucas. Imerge has the
potential to significantly appreciate in value in a short time scale."

"Adrian Lucas, CEO at Imerge, commented, "The launch of the SoundServer
range of audio servers has been exceptionally successful and we welcome
this next round of funding that will enable Imerge to exploit the
opportunity for our XiVA software in a range of convergence products and
services and bring them to worldwide markets more quickly."
